Alkyd Resin

Alkyd resins are classified by oil length, impacting their properties and applications:
  • Long Oil Alkyd (over 55% oil): Offer flexibility, slow drying, and are used in air-drying paints and varnishes.
  • Medium Oil Alkyd (45-55% oil): Provide a balance of properties for general industrial and architectural coatings.
  • Short Oil Alkyd (under 45% oil): Harder, dry faster, and are ideal for high-performance, often baked, coatings like those in automotive and industrial applications.
